Early Life and Career
Kawhi Anthony Leonard was born on June 29, 1991, in Los Angeles, California. He attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School and led his team to two CIF Southern Section Division II championships. He then played for the San Diego State Aztecs for two seasons before declaring for the NBA draft in 2011.
NBA Career
Leonard was selected 15th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2011 NBA Draft, but was traded to the San Antonio Spurs on draft night. He quickly became a key contributor for the Spurs, helping them win their fifth NBA championship in 2014. In 2016, he led the Spurs to another Western Conference title, but they lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
In 2018, Leonard was traded to the Toronto Raptors. He led the Raptors to their first NBA championship in 2019, becoming the first player to win an NBA championship with two different teams since LeBron James in 2016.
