Tyler O'Neill Traded to Red Sox, Filling Outfield Need
Red Sox Add Right-Handed Bat to Outfield
The Boston Red Sox have acquired outfielder Tyler O'Neill from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for two minor league pitchers, filling a key area of need for the team.
O'Neill's Accomplishments
O'Neill, 27, is a career .278 hitter with 97 home runs and 307 RBIs in 493 games.
In 2022, he played in a career-high 130 games with the Cardinals, hitting .280 with 28 home runs and 80 RBIs.
O'Neill was named the Southern League Most Valuable Player and was a Southern League Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star in 2017.
The Red Sox have been looking to add a right-handed bat to their outfield, and O'Neill fits the bill.
He is expected to be the team's starting right fielder in 2023.
O'Neill is a sculpted weightlifter, and he is not going to apologize for it.
