Alexis Lorenz Sues City of Boston After Husband's Arrest and Death

A Federal Lawsuit Filed

Alexis Lorenz, the widow of Terrence Lorenz, filed a lawsuit against the city of Boston, the Boston Police Department, and several individual police officers on Wednesday. The lawsuit alleges that the police officers used excessive force during an arrest that led to Terrence Lorenz’s death in July 2022.

Terrence Lorenz's Arrest and Death

Terrence Lorenz was arrested on July 13, 2022, after police responded to a domestic disturbance call at his home. According to the police report, Lorenz was intoxicated and became violent when the officers attempted to arrest him. The officers used a Taser and pepper spray to subdue Lorenz, who was then taken to the police station. Lorenz was released from custody later that day, but he was found dead in his home the following morning. The medical examiner ruled that Lorenz’s death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head, which was consistent with injuries that could have been sustained during the arrest.

The lawsuit alleges that the police officers used excessive force during the arrest, including striking Lorenz in the head with a flashlight.

The lawsuit also alleges that the police officers failed to provide Lorenz with proper medical attention after he was injured.

The city of Boston has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
