Early Life and Education

Joe Wilson was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on July 31, 1947. He attended the College of William & Mary and later earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Before entering politics, Wilson worked as a lawyer and businessman. He served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1989 to 1999 and was elected to the United States Congress in 1999.

Political Career

As a member of the Republican Party, Wilson is known for his conservative views. He is a strong supporter of President Donald Trump and has been a vocal critic of the Affordable Care Act.

Wilson has served on various congressional committees, including the House Armed Services Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. He is currently a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Wilson has been involved in several controversies during his career. In 2009, he was censured by the House of Representatives for shouting "You lie!" at President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress.

In 2015, Wilson was criticized for making comments that were interpreted as Islamophobic. He later apologized for his remarks.

Personal Life

Wilson is married to Becky Pyatt and has two children. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church.
