Mother of murdered Idaho toddler sues TikTok, Meta

Tylee Ryan's mother has filed a lawsuit against TikTok and Meta, alleging the social media giants are partly responsible for her daughter's murder.

Ryan was just two years old when her father, Joseph Ryan, killed her in 2019.

Joseph Ryan was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison in 2021.

In the lawsuit, Tylee's mother, Sarah Ryan, alleges that TikTok and Meta "enabled" Joseph Ryan's murder by allowing him to access harmful content and by failing to take down violent videos.

"TikTok and Meta knew or should have known that their platforms were being used to promote violence," the lawsuit states.

"They failed to take reasonable steps to prevent Joseph Ryan from accessing and using their platforms to commit violence."

The lawsuit also alleges that TikTok and Meta "knew or should have known that Joseph Ryan was a dangerous individual."

"They failed to take reasonable steps to prevent him from accessing and using their platforms to commit violence."

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

TikTok and Meta have not yet commented on the lawsuit.

Tylee Ryan's case highlights the dangers of social media

Tylee Ryan's case is a tragic reminder of the dangers of social media.

Social media can be a great way to connect with friends and family, but it can also be a dangerous place for children.

Children are particularly vulnerable to the dangers of social media because they are not yet able to fully understand the risks.

They may not realize that what they post online can be seen by anyone, including predators.

Social media companies have a responsibility to protect children from these dangers.

They need to do more to prevent children from accessing harmful content and to take down violent videos.

They also need to do more to educate parents about the dangers of social media and to help them keep their children safe online.

Parents need to be aware of the dangers of social media

Parents need to be aware of the dangers of social media and to take steps to protect their children.

They should talk to their children about the risks of social media and help them understand how to stay safe online.

They should also monitor their children's online activity and make sure they are not accessing harmful content.

If you are concerned about your child's safety online, you can contact your local law enforcement agency or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
